Green your air travel

A carbon offset program working with lastminute.com which funds projects in countries that do not already have Kyoto Protocal carbon reduction targets. This ensures that we are not simply paying to help Governments to achieve what they have already promised. Cool idea!

yeah, the projects they support seem to make sense. does seem like a fair amount of the money goes to infrastructure on the stove efficiency project. i wish they had a breakdown of where you dollar (or pound) goes in a pie chart.

Climate Care Trust Ltd pays a royalty of 10% of turnover to Climate Care Ltd. (the company that provided us with initial support and finance), which is included in the offset cost. The remainder of the money, 90% of turnover, is spent either as capital costs for our projects or on the staff and office costs involved in running Climate Care. In 2006, 54% of the cost per tonne of CO2 offset was spent directly on projects and their management. Our website and client service is included in the cost of the offsets. This is a slight reduction on 2005, due to the fast growth of the business. We expect to increase to over 75% in the coming years.

after digging a little deeper i am getting pretty skeptical. It is being run by JP Morgan's Environmental Markets group. I clicked on "Annual Reports" to get an exact breakdown on the use of funds and there appear to be no annual reports to download. WTF? http://www.climatecare.org/about/annual-reports
