Biofuel is the biggest contributor to climate change
The accelerating expansion of the biofuel industry is having all sorts of catastrophic impacts. Most of all it is increasing the demand for raw materials like palm oil, soy, sugar cane and jatropha – and consequently the clearing of land for intensive monoculture plantations. As a result the demand for agrofuels looks likely to become the biggest driver behind deforestation in the very near future – deforestation in turn is the cause of a massive 25% or so of greenhouse gases.
