Mounting political resistance

My dear friend Shahid Buttar, a non-violent activist and poet, shared this cool site and movement directed at stopping the war. It educates us on ways we can take a stand through intentional actions like bike rides, benefit shows, training, classes, rallies, and work-groups. It's encouraging to see folks like Shahid and others lead by example in their dedication and commitment to a better way.

interesting note: ... organized a massively successful shutdown of the San Francisco financial district, in protest of President Bush’s decision to attack Iraq ... using an ... organizing model of affinity groups, decentralized leadership, and coordinated action through mass spokescouncil meetings. (they turned out over 10,000 people) ... rawk.

This demo is being organized by many of the same folks and aims to activate the same networks. Our non-violent seizure of SF in 2003 made international news and helped frame for the global community the extent of domestic dissent to Bush. For that audience, the future historical record, and to help frame the '08 presidential election in terms most favorable to progressive candidates, please forward www.actagainstwar.net to any friends or acquaintances who could be in SF on March 19.
