found a blog that summarizes Gates comments at Stanford ... http://thecollegedays.blogspot.com/2008/02/bill-gates-on-software-innovation.html a good snippet on the future of software: For someone who works in an office - they are information starved ... they try to look at key indicators, to collaborate with people far off - these people are not yet fully empowered. Sounds like Gates would support Giveback! ;)

I certainly hope that Bill Gates' argument is correct. It is an interesting time we're living in. In just over a decade, the internet has changed so much. This type of access to information will surely have a long-term impact on the development of society. For a country to put extreme limits on its people's access to information seems extremely short-sighted. It's also nice to read about Mr. Gates' post-retirement intentions. He's definitely reinventing his image and it warms my heart to see someone with such wealth and connections using his power for world benefit.
