Check out this video on Slate, where Museum of the Moving Image's David Schwartz shows clips of candidates as far back as Eisenhower touting "change" in their ads. http://slatev.com/player.html?id=1404943192 I'm not anti-Obama, but I get frustrated because I don't really know what he plans to do or how he plans to do it. And thousands of zombie-eyed Obama cultists chanting "Yes we can!" doesn't really give me any information. (Er, does that sound harsh? I didn't meant for it to sound harsh.)

without a doubt, no. It's not enough. We all know what we are running from. I'd love to know what we are running to. Inspiration for inspirations sake is an empty policy recipe. I did vote for Obama in my primary this past Tuesday but he, of the original contenders, was a distant third and, crafty music videos aside, there's not a lot to shave it between the remaining two. His health care stance is weak. He plans on leaving 100K troops in Iraq on the new bases and in the new 'embassy'. He's got a free market libertarian economist feeding him ideas about how to narrow the gap between rich and poor. And he loves his walls, both in Israel an on the U.S. Mexican border.Of course I will jump for Joy, or maybe just hop, if he or Clinton make it to the Whitehouse. We know it will be acres better. I had hoped, however, that it might be better still.

Can't say I disagree with much of the discussion here. I will say this though ... Obama is invigorating and inspiring to many, which is a first, in a long while. He has the intelligence that a President should have. The main differentiating factor I see in him is that he makes you feel that this isn't just about him, it's about US and what WE can do when we come together and get involved. This viral video, which has reached something close to 2 million views since Feb 1st , was not commissioned by Obama -- it IS the result of Obama's inspiration in action. It was created with the intent to inspire people and remind people of their individual power. Now obviously these musicians aren't ordinary voters, even still it's a great example of what individual people can do, especially with today's technology, to be involved, speak-up, inspire and make some kind of a contribution to change. There is still alot we don't know, even so, I look forward to more digging and discovery with this candidate.

Hmm. It seems that the "we" that "can" are young, fit hipsters. Great job on the inspiring rhetoric and ethnic diversity, but... is that all there is?
