How do I submit a URL to Giveback?

To share a URL with the Giveback community, click the "Post a link" link in the header and fill out our easy-to-use submission form. We'll ask you to provide a headline, description, and tags for your submission. You must be signed in to your account to post URLs to Giveback.

How do I find all of the stuff a user has submitted?

After each post, you will see the name of the person who submitted it. Click on the name to see their profile page, which contains a list of everything they've submitted.

Can I report a bug?

Yes, please! If you encounter a bug or problem, please click the "Report a bug" link in the header and fill out the short form to send us a bug report. We really appreciate your help improving the site.

How do I get to my profile?

Once you've logged in, click on your name after "Welcome" in the header.

Is it ok to have more than one Giveback account?

Unfortunately no. To protect the integrity of the system, our policy is one person, one account. This is to help prevent users from artificially influencing ratings and to allow the community to see your posting history, which helps everyone understand where you're coming from on an issue.

How do I change my email address?

You can change your email address in the "Edit Profile" settings in your Profile.

How can I delete my account?

You can request for your account removal by contacting info@giveback.net. Please keep in mind that this action cannot be reversed. Also make sure to email us from the email address associated with your Giveback account. If your email address has changed since you created your Giveback account, you can change it in the "Edit Profile" settings in your Profile.

Is it ok to put a link to my website in my comments

It is not ok to advertise anything of any kind in the comments section. Please keep your comments on-topic to the post you're commenting on. Any irrelevant links, spam, etc. could result in an account ban for the offending user.

What happens if I try to submit the same content as another Giveback user?

If you're trying to submit the same URL, you'll get an error message that won't allow you to complete your submission. Please always use the URL from the content's place of origin to try to keep the system free of duplicates. However, if it's a different URL with different coverage of the same issue and not identical content, feel free to submit it. If both submissions have the same tags, then it will cause them to be grouped together and will provide richer information for users who are interested in that topic. Please be aware that if we find abusive duplicate submission behavior from users, their accounts may be banned.

How can I delete a comment I made?

Generally speaking, we don't allow users to delete their comments, so please think through the repercussions of your comments before you post them. However, if there is a reason you feel a comment must be deleted, please send us the URL along with a full quote of the comment you want to delete at info@giveback.net and we'll look into it.

How can I edit a submission after it appears on the site?

Please contact info@giveback.net to edit a submission. Be sure to include the Giveback URL of the submission you want to edit as well as the updated title, tags, or description. You must be the original submitter of the content to request an edit and you must email us from the email address associated with your Giveback account.

Can I submit content in languages other than English?

Giveback is currently only an English-language content site. Please do not submit non-English content. Our goal is to expand into other languages so if you would like to see Giveback in your language, please email those requests to info@giveback.net.

Can I submit porn, pr0n, or pornography?

Absolutely not. Any porn submissions will result in an immediate ban and/or account deletion. And, while nudity isn't necessarily porn, it still violates our TOS and will likely result in an account ban.

Why did you delete my account and remove my history?

Giveback takes a firm stance against users who violate our Terms of Use. This is in order to protect the integrity of our system for the good of our community. Example violations include spamming, hate speech, pornography, etc. If the abuse was severe enough, then it will warrant an account removal.

Another Giveback user insulted me, what can I do?

If you feel you've been insulted and didn't provoke it, send us the URL of the post, the username of the person who insulted you and a copy of the insulting quote to info@giveback.net and we'll look into it.

There is a user spamming Giveback, either with submissions or comments, where can I report him/her?

Please report any/all abuse to info@giveback.net. Be sure to include the Giveback URL of the spammer's profile, the Giveback URL of his or her submission or comment, and a quote of the spammed comment, where applicable. Also make sure to email us from the email address associated with your Giveback account.

Does Giveback remove stories?

Only if they're in violation of our TOU.
